 Director of Broadband Operations

Dickson Electric System has a new opening for a Director of Broadband Operations.  The Director of Broadband Operations has responsibility for the direction and operation of DES’s broadband division. The minimum qualifications are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, information technology, engineering or a related field.
  • With five to ten years of senior level experience in management of telecommunications or related industry.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.

Warehouse Agent

— Dickson Electric System has an opening for a Warehouse Agent.  The essential duties to perform all warehouse duties and maintenance duties to DES building and yard.

Essential Functions:

  • Lay out jobs and gather stock for linemen or meter department.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment.
  • Unload trucks and help unload transformers.
  • Maintain accurate and updated inventory records.
  • Keep all inventory in its designated area with accurate counts.
    Perform maintenance jobs in and out of DES building, as required.
  • Clean and maintain warehouse, pole pile and DES yard area.
  • Work with all department managers on maintenance issues as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and/or GED.
  • Strong maintenance knowledge and skills
  • General knowledge of electric distribution utility work
  • Sufficient physical strength and ability to perform heavy manual tasks relating to moving and lifting electrical utility equipment, tools and supplies for at least 8 hours/day.
  • Valid TN driver’s license. CDL a plus.

Meter Technician I

Dickson Electric System has an opening for a Meter Technician I.  The essential duties to perform installation, inspection, reading, maintenance and repair of electric metering equipment in a manner that ensures economical use of vehicles, materials and equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with Meter Technician II to help order meters, meter bases and supplies.
  • Provide meters for Meter Service Representatives and service crews.
  • Help test accuracy of meters, clean meters and retire meters as appropriate.
  • Assist with the installation of CT’s and PT’s.
  • Help maintain test equipment and tools.
  • Help maintain warehouse area of Meter Department in clean, safe and orderly condition.
  • May be asked to deliver meter bases to customers who have paid through Customer Service.
  • May be required to address customer issues regarding meter base wiring or billing disputes with customers, either in person on the jobsite or on the phone.
  • Follow all DES safety guidelines and policies.
  • Help on cut in/cut outs and do rereads when needed.
  • Trouble shoot problems in field related to metering.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • Basic knowledge of meter applications.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures in working with energized meter bases.
  • Basic understanding of service wiring to houses.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, other employees of DES and the general public.
  • Valid TN driver’s license required. CDL a plus.

Receptionist

 Dickson Electric System has an opening for a Receptionist.  The essential duties to perform is to greet and direct walk-in customers and answer and route telephone calls to appropriate departments.

. Essential Functions:

  • Greet and direct walk-in customers.
  • Answer multi-line telephone and route calls to appropriate departments.
  • Receive and sign for deliveries.
  • Maintain lobby material and supplies.
  • Knowledge of DES website.
  • Process mail and drop.
  • Endorse checks and post on spreadsheet for grand total.
  • Fill in for Cashier when needed and assist Bookkeeper when needed.
  • Be willing to cross train for other positions.
  • Key mail and drop batches for landfill and electric.
  • Reasonably regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • One-year prior experience in customer service.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use basic office equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, other employees of DES and the general public.
  • Valid TN driver’s license required.
