Easy Pay

Our newest option for residential customers is Easy Pay! This is a pay-as-you-go electric service that functions similarly to the way the gas tank in your car works. You make payments throughout the month, and those payments purchase electricity for you to use. As your balance gets low, you make additional payments to “refill” your account.

Easy Pay features a free, user-friendly app for your smartphone:

  • It provides specific information about your account
  • You may also sign up for text or email alerts so you can always know your account status

Easy Pay is a wonderful option for customers who:

  • Want to avoid paying a large security deposit based on their credit history
  • Owe an old bill, to get service immediately by applying a small percentage of each payment toward the past due balance until the balance is paid in full with the debt recovery feature

Easy Pay Setup Process

  • Customers must visit our office in person to set up their prepaid electric account.
  • A minimum initial payment of $100 is required to start the prepaid service.

Requirements and Paperwork

  • Customers must provide all necessary requirements and documentation to establish the prepaid electric service.
  • Typical documents may include identification and proof of residence.
  • Please contact our office, (615) 441-6316, for information on specific documentation needed.

Automatic Service Deactivation

  • The prepaid electric service will automatically deactivate when the account balance reaches zero.

Reconnection Fee

  • If the service is deactivated due to insufficient funds, a $30 reconnect fee will apply to reinstate the service.

Levelized Billing

Levelized billing is designed to help our customers avoid large fluctuations in their monthly electric bills. It keeps your electric bill predictable and helps you to accurately anticipate your monthly payment amount.

With levelized billing:

  • Your monthly electric bill is a rolling average of your usage for the past 12 months
  • It uses a rolling average, so your monthly bill will vary slightly each month

Levelized billing is ideal for customers who budget their household bills, and it is a great way to avoid unexpectedly large bills due to extremely hot or extremely cold temperatures.

Qualifications & Applying

In order to qualify for levelized billing, you must be:

  • A DES customer for 12 months at the same location
  • Current on your electric bill
